Stoney’s Landscaping: 6.5x Return on Ad Spend in 2.5 Months
Google Local Services Ads helped a Michigan landscaping company generate $26,335 in revenue from $4,068 in ad spend during a 2.5-month test season.
Now we’re scaling SEO, ads, and measurement for a full 2026 season. New co-owner, Ryan Hansen, has hired a second crew to keep up with demand.

The Company
Stoney’s Landscaping Serves the Detroit Metro Area
Stoney’s Landscaping is a family-owned landscaping company serving the greater Detroit area. They specialize in hardscaping, lawn care, and seasonal outdoor projects for residential clients.
They’ve been doing great work since 1981. When Ryan took over, he needed a reliable lawn care marketing approach that would bring in qualified leads during peak season without overspending on advertising that didn’t convert.
The Challenge
Inconsistent Lead Volume & No Way to Measure What Worked
Before working with Pangea, Stoney’s relied on word-of-mouth referrals and occasional networking. Lead volume was inconsistent, which made it difficult to plan crew schedules and scale operations.
Ryan reached out because he needed a reliable way to generate qualified leads during peak season without overspending on advertising that didn’t convert.

The Solution
A 72-Day Paid Search Test With Full Lead Tracking
We set up Google Local Services Ads targeting Detroit-area zip codes for Stoney’s core services—hardscaping, lawn care, and seasonal projects. From there, we tracked leads from source to conversion and monitored call recordings weekly to check lead quality.
The goal was to prove that paid advertising could generate profitable leads before committing to a full-season budget in 2026. Because this was a contained paid search campaign, we were able to track the full path from ad click to closed deal for the leads that came through the platform.
The 72-day test generated:
- 40 qualified leads (60% of total) at $126.70 per qualified lead
- 13 new clients with a 32.5% win rate on qualified leads
- $26,335.19 in revenue from those 13 clients, each worth about $2,000
- 6.5x return on ad spend (ROAS)
In short, Stoney’s was paying about $310 to win clients worth over $2,000 in revenue on average.
Organic Search Growth
SEO Gains Before the Full Season Even Started
While the 2025 paid ads test proved the unit economics, we also began building long-term organic visibility through a new website and landscaping SEO.
By March 2026, before the peak season began in Michigan, organic search performance saw a dramatic rise:
- Impressions increased 8x. Google Search Console showed that Stoney’s showed up in the results 106,000 times in March and April 2026 compared to 13,000 in August and September 2025.
- Clicks increased 4x. Organic clicks rose from 128 over the same baseline period to nearly 500 in March and April.
- Average position moved from page 3 to page 1. Across all keywords, Stoney’s went from an average position of 32 to an average position of 8, meaning Stoney’s went from buried in results to showing up where people were looking.
This is organic traffic. Stoney’s did not pay a single advertising dollar for these clicks or the jobs generated by them.

What’s Next
Scaling Landscaping SEO, Ads, and Measurement for 2026
The 2025 season proved that Stoney’s was ready to meet the market demand. The early 2026 SEO results confirmed that organic search could become a major lead channel. Now both are running in parallel for the full season.
The business impact is already clear. By April, Stoney’s was booked solid through June. Ryan hired a second crew so the company can keep up with demand, which is a problem he did not have one year ago.
We’re also building deeper marketing measurement infrastructure in 2026. This will allow us to connect organic and paid traffic to actual booked jobs. That will enable Ryan to see how much it truly costs to win a customer across channels in terms of revenue, not just clicks and calls.
